Inside Terra Nova, Taylor and Skye discuss the death of the latter's parents -- three years ago to the day. "You're parents would be really proud of who you've become," says Taylor, who notes that a certain prehistoric fever has killed more Terra Novians than anything else. He isn't sure if they'll ever find a cure. Taylor then gears up to head outside of Terra Nova on a double-secret mission.. Because Washington is away on assignment, Jim will be left in charge of Terra Nova's forces.
Later, Taylor investigates the strange hieroglyphics that have been drawn on the rocks near the river. Has Lucas come closer to a time-traveling answer? Suddenly, Mira approaches. She levels a gun at Taylor. Back at Terra Nova, Zoe watches the progress of her own pet dino, which is currently a small-sized lizard. Unfortunately, the dino is getting too big and will need to let back into the wild sometime very soon.
Dad, in the meantime, is securing the perimeter of the colony and making sure that no one uses a radio frequency that the Sixer spy might piggyback on. Just then, a soldier spots an active radio frequency coming from outside Terra Nova. Jim and Taylor use binoculars to scan the compound and see which citizen is talking on a device. Taylor spots a flashing light by an under-construction house. Jim and Taylor rush to the construction site and find a single drop of blood in a jar of paint sealant. Unbeknownst to either, Skye is hiding nearby. She has cut her hand. Is Skye the Sixer spy?
CUT to the jungle, where Taylor makes a run for it. Mira FIRES her pulse rifle, sending Taylor flying. He managed to hide a small blade in his hand before Mira reaches him. Taylor plans to cut himself free. Back at Terra Nova, Josh approaches Skye and sincerely apologizes for getting her involved with the Sixers. She hides her bleeding hand and gets out of the conversation as quickly as possible. Skye then heads to the medical tent. She steals a spray that almost instantly seals her wound. CUT to Jim, who tries to extract the blood drop ... but it spreads and dissipates as soon as he touches it. "Damn," he sighs.
So Jim brings the jar of sealant to Elisabeth in an attempt to salvage the evidence. "I'm a doctor, not a chemist," she says. "You're going to have to talk to Malcolm. Sorry." So is Jim. CUT to Taylor, who is still being led through the jungle by Mira. Taylor begins to taunt Mira for working for men who plan to pillage the prehistoric world. She refuses to apologize, explaining that she took the deal to save her sick daughter. Just then, something SNARLS nearby. The noise distracts Mira and gives Taylor, who has used the blade to free himself, the opening he needs to disarm the Sixer. Now Mira is the prisoner.
"When did you last see him?" Taylor asks. "Lucas?" Mira says Lucas comes and goes as he pleases. She also says that Lucas told her that he hates his dad because of what happened in Somalia. "So what happened in Somalia?" Mira asks. Taylor becomes FURIOUS and SLAMS the Sixer up against a tree. Suddenly, both once again here the SNARL. Something is tracking the pair. Back at the hospital, Jim convinces Malcolm to work on the blood sample before spotting Zoe trying to sneak her pet dino outside. Zoe is very sad that she has to say goodbye to her not-so-domesticated buddy.
CUT to Skye, who has volunteered to join Josh on a work crew outside of Terra Nova. At the first opportunity, she slips away into the jungle ... joining a gang of Sixers hiding out nearby. So she IS the spy. Later, Skye arrives at the Sixer camp and hands over a data disc of intel. "Now let me see her," Skye demands. In the corner is a sick, middle-aged woman. It's Skye's mother. "Remember we're the only ones with a cure," says a Sixer who is holding a small bag of meds. So Skye's motivation has become clear.
Back at Terra Nova, Malcolm has extracted a tiny amount of blood, which is then tested by Elisabeth. The DNA identification will be ready by the next morning. CUT to Taylor and Mira, who are resting when they hear a pair of SNARLS. Suddenly, two huge dinos -- "slashers" -- ATTACK. Taylor and Mira make a run for it -- and soon find themselves standing at the top of a huge waterfall. Taylor cuts Mira free and the two LEAP. They fall hundreds of feet into the water below. Taylor loses his gun in the process. He then hands Mira a knife. "We can fight each other, or we can fight them," he says. Mira nods.
CUT to Terra Nova, where Skye has returned to camp. She sneaks into the hospital, spots her DNA sample being scanned and then sabotages the test with a drop of acid. Later, Reynolds awkwardly declares his "intentions" to one day marry Jim's 16-year-old daughter. Jim turns the conversation back to the spy and discovers that the DNA sample has been destroyed. "I need you to put together a list of all medical center employees and their families," Jim tells Elisabeth. Back in the jungle, Taylor and Mira have made camp. They argue over the best way to make flaming spears when a familiar SNARL returns. The slashers attack. Taylor NAILS one with a flaming spear, sending it fleeing.
Later, the pair eat jungle grubs and appear to almost bond following their near-death experiences together. "Could've been different -- you and I," Taylor says. "We could've made a helluva team." What might have been. What probably never will. Back at Terra Nova, Elisabeth reveals that just enough of the DNA test was completed to reveal that the spy is a woman. So her list of 84 names can be immediately cut down to 47. It's a start.
The next morning, Taylor and Mira prepare to part ways. "Your son is close to figuring out how to reverse the portal," she says. In other words, Taylor can't stop the bad guys from the future coming to rob Terra Nova of its innocence. Retorts Taylor: "The question is: how does it end?" Indeed. Later, a very sad Zoe releases her pet dino into the wild. As if on cue, a much larger (mother) dino of the same species emerges to greet the baby.
Skye, in the meantime, comes to visit Taylor. The pair agree to take a walk to Memorial Field to visit the grave of her dead parents. Skye appears nervous. "Something on your mind?" asks a friendly Taylor. Skye deflects, claiming nothing is wrong.
